Cities and beach destinations - Where to travel in October?

"I want to have a break from work/school before Christmas, but I don't know where to go"
Sounds familiar? In October you usually want to go maybe for a short weekend trip or a beach holiday near your country. So where to go?

1. A weekend in a city
Autumn is the perfect time for seeing a city in a weekend. Usually you should maybe take 1-3 nights in the location so you could see it properly. Sometimes the flights can be cheaper if you fly from Thursday to Saturday, Saturday to Monday or Thursday to Monday. Good cities in Europe for a short holiday are for example Berlin, London and Gdansk. If you are traveling on a budget, I'd recommend Gdansk because Poland is cheaper country to travel to than for example Germany. Nice autumn cities in the United States would be for example Los Angeles or New York (NY is always a good idea). Also an interesting option would be North Africa, maybe Morocco or Egypt.

2. Somewhere warm
If you want to have a nice break from work or school maybe you should try just to relax in a beach? Spending a week or a weekend in a warm country can't be a bad idea. If you feel like this could be your thing check out Malta, Cyprus, Sicily, Southern Spain, Florida or Middle America (Costa Rica, Honduras and so on). My personal favorite is Malta which isn't too much of a tourist thing yet but it has a lot of things to see and the views are absolutely spectacular. I visited Malta in October and it was really nice. The weather was warm, there wasn't too much tourists and almost everything was still open.    Only one water park was closed because of the off-season.

3. Explore your country
An enjoyable autumn trip doesn't have to be a big thing. For example check where you can take a train to from your city and go to explore it. It's actually pretty unbelievable to see how much new things you can find near-by. This is a good choice for a family with smaller children since flying can be a bit difficult but they are still as excited about going to the next city as going to the other side of the globe ;)
